The Pros and Cons of Choosing Highly Competitive Keywords and Niches

Most of the Internet is based on keywords, they are how web surfers find the information they are searching for and it’s how websites get found.

Some are more popular than others and are capable of bringing mass traffic, others not as much.

All of this depends on a number of searches a keyword has, how often people use them when searching online and also the amount of competition that exists for them in the search engines.

Some marketers claim that picking extremely competitive keywords is key to earning a fortune online, while, others point out that the more competitive the market, the more challenging your competition, the more complicated the optimization process and so making any real money is impossible because it will be too difficult to rank for these terms.

So, who is correct?

The truth is both viewpoints are correct, and choosing highly competitive keywords has its pros and cons.

Pros And Cons Of Choosing Highly Competitive Keywords And Niches

  • For the most competitive terms, the market is actually big enough to permit numerous businesses to flourish and, for those who have competitive products in addition to great ideas, the only real limit to the amount of money that can be made is the search volumes of the keywords in that market.

  • There will be a lot of examples of what sells and what doesn’t, and also what search traffic finds appealing, as well as, the sites Google chooses to rank for those keywords.

If you don’t have a product or service of your own, you can certainly locate a competitive top quality product to market as an affiliate. There will be an abundance of affiliate programs to choose from in popular markets.

  • You can cater to many thousands of web surfers, and depending on the keywords you choose for your site, this number can easily climb to millions of visitors per month.

  • In highly competitive markets you have many alternatives to make money online.
  • There are many marketing methods to promote high competition keywords, including, but not limited to, pay-per-click, email marketing, forum marketing, content marketing, social media, blogging, etc.

  • Word of mouth marketing and social media are such venues that can make anything popular and if you have a top-notch product or really offer something of value, these can be the ideal venues to get the word out to your site and build a loyal following. Once you get mass traffic on your own and become known online, Google will often rank you after the fact.

  • There will be a mass amount of competitors, in both organic and paid search results. You will have to invest a serious amount of time, cash and effort in order to rank for competitive terms, some terms that are dominated by big brands may be impossible to rank for.
  • Search engines, especially Google know which keywords are the most valuable, those “money keywords” will be the hardest to rank for and sometimes impossible as the top pages of the SERPS will be dominated by aged domains who have earned trust from Google and well-known brands.

  • It will likely take serious time to let the world know of the existence of your product and to engage a following. Nonetheless, as stated before, whenever you do get that following, and make headway in SERP rankings, the income opportunities are unlimited, your online business can easily grow and the possibilities will be infinite because the demand is so great.

Bottom Line

When you choose a competitive niche and you target competitive keywords, you make the first step towards becoming a brand in that niche and, when you offer high quality products or services your success is that much closer in sight.

Focus on getting noticed, networking with bloggers in your niche, and social media, build a following and Google will follow you. One thing is sure, in competitive niches with highly searched for keywords, there are no limits to earning potentials.

How to attract your dream customer

Attracting a dream customer is the main objective of any business, imagine this, you have a customer who drain your energy and make you go crazy, how many of this customers do you will want to have?

How to attract your dream customer

No one want that type of customer, we all want to work with a certain type of customers, customers that will fit our business model.

This concept I learnt it in the affiliate bootcamp by Russell Brunson, it is a free course and if you want to learn more from himself you can join affiliate bootcamp here and change the way you do your affiliate marketing.

So in order to attract your dream customer you need to know the answer of these four questions, Who? Where? Bait? and Where?

Who is your dream customer?

This is the first question you should ask yourself if you want to attract your dream customer. Your dream customer must fit your criteria, your dream customer must be able to consume your product and able to pay for it (this is how you will make money right?).

For example, your dream customer could be the guy or gal who has a job but not making enough income to cover his/her needs so he wants to create another stream of income. He/She want to learn how to do that by using internet and he/she is ready to invest some money in tools needed to build his/her business and also to invest in his/her education.

That can be your dream customer, you don’t need a customer who thinks that paying $15 for a Get response auto responder per month is a lot of money.

Another example could be in weight loss niche, your dream customer could be a single mother who is overweight and have a full time job, but she does not have enough time to go to gym for workouts or time to prepare a balanced diet, but she is eager to learn how to lose weight without going to gym or long workout sessions but also she can invest in her education if needed.

Where are your dream customer?

So know you know who is your dream customer, the next task is to find out where you can find them, there are many methods you can use to find them.

The easiest method to find out where your dream customers hang out is by using forum, if you want to help people to lose weight just go to the weight loss forums, engage in their conversation, find out their problems and where they go to find the solution for their problems.

Popular blog or product in your niche

Another way is to find a popular blog or product in your niche and use the website like and find out where is their visitors come from, the place where their visitors come from is the place where the hangout.

Facebook groups

Now days there are Facebook groups for everything out there, just go to Facebook search for groups related to your niche and join the conversation, remember I said join the conversation not spam them.

What bait you’re going to use the attract them?

So now you know who is your dream customer, you know their problems and fears and you know where they hang out, now it is time to attract them to you.

By knowing your problem, you can create a bait that can give a solution to one of their main problem, for example if your dream customer wants to lose weight but they don’t have enough time to work out you can write an eBook or a video teaching them how to lose weight without working out and you know where they hang out so you will know exactly where to advertise your bait.

This is one of the main problem most marketers face, they create bait that doesn’t fit their dream customers or if they have it they advertise to the wrong audience. In order to do this effectively you need to do the two steps listed above and then you will be able to put exactly offer to the perfect audience and the result will be high conversion rate to you.

Where are you going to take them?

So now you have your dream customer in your hand where are you going to take them? This is the first question you should ask yourself before spending a single dime in acquiring new customers.

In order to do this, you need to have the ultimate goal or destiny where you want to take your customers and then you need to create a step by step process in order to reach your end goal.

In each of the steps you will need to address some issues and offer them a solution with your product or service.

For example, you want to take somebody from making $0 per month to 20K per month first step will be to have all tools they need like auto responder, building a squeeze page, making the first sale etc.

The second step will be making $100 per day, this can be done by building a sales funnel, creating products etc.

The third step could be making 20K per month, this could be done by selling high tickets products.

In the example above you can structure your product like this, you can sell the first step and charge your customer a certain amount of fee per month and then you can offer a second step and an upgrade this could be a personal coaching program via skype or phone and in the third step you can offer the licensing to your program.

The most important thing to remember in this step is to create more value to your customer in each step and this will give you the ability to charge more for your service.

Those are for steps you must follow to attract your dream customers, stop to advertise your business to everybody, define your dream customer, attract them and make your life mission to serve them and the reward will be huge.
